COACHING STAFF
KEVIN GRANT
Grant is the first Field Manager in Texarkana Rhinos’ history. He will be leading the charge through the 2024 season! Grant has served as Cornell College Baseball’s pitching coach since the Fall of 2022 in Iowa. Prior to arriving at Cornell, Grant worked as a volunteer assistant coach at NCAA Division I University of Evansville, where he helped guide the 2022 Purple Aces to their first 30-win season since 2014.
Before his time at Evansville, Grant served as the vice president at Prestige Travel Baseball in Chicago, Ill. His job duties included serving as the high school recruiting coordinator, head of youth development, strength and conditioning coordinator and head coach.
Grant, a military veteran, served four years in the United States Navy from 2011-2015. He was stationed on the USS Kearsarge (LHD3), an amphibious assault ship, and was deployed for 10 months to the Middle East in 2013. Grant worked on the flight deck and was a part of Crash and Smash, an elite crew of rescue fire fighters. Working with this crew helped shape Grant into the leader he is today.
Grant played baseball collegiately at St. Norbert College.
JULIAN SKOSEY-LALONDE
Skosey-LaLonde joins the inaugural coaching staff as the pitching coach. He served as an assistant for Cornell College, alongside Grant, for his first season in 2023.
JACK SKINNER
Skinner is the third member of the Rhinos’ ’24 coaching staff. The Texas A&M University-Texarkana assistant looks to bring his local knowledge to the team.
MIKE WILSON
Coach Wilson makes his coaching debut with the Rhinos as an assistant coach. The Phoenix, Arizona native played at the perennial powerhouse Mountain Ridge High School. As a draft prospect for the Philadelphia Phillies in 2004, he won a National Championship while playing for Team USA 18U in Australia.
His college career began at the University of the Southwest in Hobbs, New Mexico, before transferring to Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida.
In 2006, he left college to enlist in the Army. On active duty from 2006 – 2011, Wilson conducted multiple military operations in Iraq as a Designated Marksman with the 1st Armored Division from 2009-2010. With NCAA eligibility left, he returned to baseball, playing for California State University at Monterey Bay before a professional stint with the Yuma Scorpions in the North American League.
In 2012, he re-enlisted in the Army, working as a member of the Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command within the Special Operations community. In 2019, Coach Wilson left the Army and now resides in Bloomburg, Texas.
Coach Wilson holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration, a Master’s Degree in
Emergency Management and Homeland Security, a Postgraduate Executive Certificate in Strategic
Leadership, and currently a Doctoral Student in Strategic Leadership. Working for the Department of
Veterans Affairs, Coach Wilson can devote his summers to the Rhinos.
