WHITE OAK, Texas (August 10, 2024) – Texarkana was able to close out the season with one of their best performances of the season, a 17-6 win over the TimberHogs.
The game started close as both teams traded blows through the first three innings. After this, Texarkana began their blowout in the top of the fourth inning when they scored seven runs. Josiah Taylor scored the first run when he was driven in on a fielder’s choice. The next six runs for the Rhinos came on two swings. First, it was a two-run home run from Rylan Evans that scored Simon Baker. Mason Sellers then outdid this effort by hitting a grand slam to add four to his team’s total.
With their total already at nine runs, the Rhinos went to work offensively again in the seventh inning to extend their lead. They added three more to their runs this inning; the three runs were scored by Yuto Mimura, Rylan Evans, and Gabe Baker to push their run total up to 12.
The final five runs of the year for Texarkana were then added just one inning later as Texarkana added two more home runs to their total of five runs to close out the season. First, Rylan Evans hit his second two-run shot of the game, and shortly afterwards, Lane Epperson hit a three-run home run to bring the run total to 17.
Kyle Possoit got his second win of the season after coming in as a reliever. This win sets his record at 2-2 and the overall record for the Rhinos at 29-37. Just missing the playoff picture by one game.
