WHITE OAK, Texas (July 14, 2024) – The Rhinos went on the road to play the Piney Woods TimberHogs in White Oak after winning two games out of a three-game series at home. The one-off game in White Oak was dominated by the Rhinos from the first inning to the last.
The Rhinos kicked off the game with two outs in the top of the first. While facing two quick outs, the Rhinos bats woke up in emphatic fashion as Rylan Evans hit a shot out of the park for the first run. Neil Jansen and Jackson Glymph then both stepped up to the plate, and both hit solo home runs to put the score at 3-0 after three home runs in a row.
Piney Woods scored a single run in the home half of each of the first two innings to cut the Rhinos lead down to just one, but the Rhinos surged back with offense of their own in the top of the third as they put up four runs. The first three runs came from Neil Jansen’s second home run of the game, when he hit a three-run shot to score Gabriel Natividad and Rylan Evans. The fourth and final run of the inning was batted in by Mason Sellers as he drove in Jackson Glymph with a well-hit double into left field.
Scoring slowed down for both teams through the middle innings, but Texarkana’s bats reignited in the top of the seventh inning. Mason Sellers scored when Ian Guanzon hit a dribbler in the infield that forced a fielders shoice and scored the Rhinos eighth run of the game. Eli Selby was next to cross home plate as he did so due to a single from Gabriel NAtividad.
In the top of the eight, Neil Jasnen walked, then was scored on a double into center field by Jackon Glymph. Later in the inning, Glymph scored the RHinos final run on a sacrifice fly into right field off Mason Sellers bat.
This win allowed Texarkana to jump the TimberHogs in the standings and also gave Brandon Cardenas his league-leading fifth win of the season.
